While the group technically formed in 1999 during Lovano's seven-day engagement at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the members receive a much thirster association with each other. Significantly, Foster performed with Scofield import they were both in trumpeter/jazz legend Miles Davis' band during the early '80s. Similarly, Lovano and Scofield's association goes back as far as the '70s when they were both surgical in Boston. Scolohofo toured first in 1999 and then in 2002 in the lead up to the recording of its starting time studio record album, Oh!, released on Blue Note in 2003.
